Train Doodle

I sat on the autotrain for 18 hours and made this. It didn't take 18 hours though. I listened to a lot of amy winehouse, her lyrics really speak to me.

Brush lettering

I've been practicing my brush lettering a lot recently. I picked up a book from my library and have been writing ever since. I really love this type of calligraphy, its very relaxing.

Summer!

A couple type sketches I did at work the other day. The end of the semester was crazy and now I'm back in Jersey. Summer classes and freelance work are to come, but more importantly, a children's book! I'll be posting process soon enough. Stay tuned!

Breakup Card

My latest illustration assignment was open, and I've had this idea for quite a while. I wanted to make a set of cards used to break up with someone. So consider this the first installment!
Front of the card. It had a spinner wheel with break up lines that you can read through

Man, Pet and Machine

My first official advanced media assignment of the semester! We had to create a pen and ink piece that featured a man, their pet, and a machine. So I have a little girl, her dog, and the machine is the kite. And some lyrics just for fun.
This was really fun! I never considered using anything but black in before, but my instructor suggested purple and I love it. I'll go back in later and add some colors digitally but for right now I'm pretty satisfied.

First Illustration Assignment!

A book cover for Life of Pi. I really wish I had the chance to read this, from all the researching I've done it seems like a really interesting read. But I can only handle one book at a time on top of school work.
Different from how I started, but I got caught up with things and now its 4:30 am so it is what it is. I'm pretty pleased with this piece but I'm definitely going to tweak it/re-do parts for my portfolio.

Ligature Show!

I submitted a piece to the 4th Annual Ligature Show at my school! It was super last, I just cleaned up a blurb from my sketchbook and sent it in last minute, but I'm pleased. Makes a cute little print.

WIP

Here are some thumbnails from my first two assignments so far, and a little side project to bulk up dat portfolio.
A book cover assignment, how refreshing! Some thumbnails for Life of Pi, which I've never read.

An open ended pen and ink assignment for advanced media. Super stoked about this class.
Illustrating a quote from Bill Nye, everyone's favorite scientist.

Sketchbook

Hello all! School has started and we hit the ground sprinting. So naturally I fell over a lot. Here are some sketchbook typographic sketchbook pages from this week and over the break.
Shameless spongebob quote, and some lyrics from The Neighborhood's "Sweater Weather" that have been stuck in my head for a month.
Silly things. I watched Life is Beautiful recently.

Small doodle that I'm thinking of turning into an actual piece.

Snow day

Being buried in 10 inches of snow means I get to sit in my house all day and doodle. Practicing my calligraphy and handlettering skills.
